Knee Radio 1 (internet radio)
I woke up one day and started a radio station. And it was on the air that evening.
It’s not often that you can say that. And those words could have never been written 10 years ago. But with today’s technology anything is possible, even creating an internet radio station from scratch with your MacBook Pro.
UPDATE FIVE YEARS LATER
Thousands of listens. Hundreds of new patients. Incredible positive feedback.
This was a big win and continues to drive business for X10 Therapy to this day.
SHORT STORY
I was inspired by my new DJ Personality/Friend Purple who hosts an internet radio show on NOVASTAR RADIO 1 called Flashback 80’s. It is an internet radio station. Here is link: Conversations with Purple. We were chatting about her career and how her show is distributed. Then it hit me – why not a radio station made up of podcast episodes geared to my audience for X10 Therapy… namely people in need of knowledge on knee surgery and recovery. I had the content, certainly, from the podcast that I had been building for more than two years. Isn’t this just another way of repurposing content? How hard is it to have your own full radio broadcast?
I poked around and found Radio.co, learned all I could about their platform and signed up. I uploaded my podcasts ‘like the dickens’ and then started to build stuff like the station logo, audio interstitials and station ID’s using licensed music and Amazon Polly (for the voiceover). And Voilá!
It is now seven days later (as of the writing of this article). The program is a 24 hours a day series of shows, and then it repeats. It is still a little rough – lots of room for improvement. Fine – some things take time and perseverance. But I am proud of the work and pleased with what I have put out there.
And now the other fun begins. How to gather an audience, get this radio station to the right people who need the help.
So – welcome to Knee Radio 1. You can listen for yourself below.
